About Me

Tim, our rescue dog Marsha, and I “reverse-nested” out of our home of 20 years to move to my parents’ town in Texas. Our two adult children currently share that home.

Making Monster Soup was a project where I got to look back on my childhood and our kids' childhood. I want to share this family tradition with other families. This is my first children's book that I wrote and illustrated in watercolor and ink.

In 2009, I pioneered a Tennessee community project while raising our family in Texas. I conducted personal interviews with neighbors in the town where my maternal grandparents lived. The result of compiling correspondence and interviews was 39 chapters written in the voices of 39 authors. In 2017, I published that project into a book, Mascot: Memoirs from a Zinc Mining Town. Since Helen Williams, my mother, and I were co-editors, I donate the royalties of the Mascot book to the Friends of the Knox County Public Library in honor of my grandparents who lived in Mascot over 60 years.

Both my books are available on Amazon. I'm available for art commissions, article writing, editing, and looking for a publisher for my poetry collection.

I'm delighted you visited!

My website is an ever rotating gallery just like my home, featuring:

  • A complete list of the books I've written, illustrated, published, and been featured in that are available on Amazon

  • Blogs to inspire your Creative Side

  • A rotating gallery of my art, photos, and poetry

  • A kids' section to discover the fun to be had at home - an extension of my book Making Monster Soup. With a little imagination, we can make chores turn into as much fun as a scavenger hunt.
